2024 ZGC Forum Fintech Parallel Forum Successfully Held

On April 29, 2024, the Asian Financial Cooperation Association (AFCA) successfully co-hosted 2024 Zhongguancun Forum Fintech Parallel Forum (hereinafter referred to as “the Forum”) with Haidian District People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, Xicheng District People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, and PBC School of Finance of Tsinghua University. The theme of the forum is “AI for Digital Finance Development”.

Mr. Li Mingxiao, Director-general of Policy Research Department of National Financial Regulatory Administration, Mr. Xu Xinchao, Deputy Secretary General of People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, and Mr. Yue Li, Committee Member and Executive Deputy District Mayor of Haidian District People’s Government of Beijing Municipality delivered speeches. Mr. Zhang Bo, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Mr. Michael Spence, the 2001 Nobel Prize laureate in Economics, Mr. Xu Zhengyu, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Mr. Wu Xiaoqiu, Former Vice-President of Renmin University of China were keynote speekers.

The Forum held a roundtable discussion on the theme of “Unleashing The Value of Data Elements To Empower The Financial Service Upgrades”, which was moderated by Mr. Zuo Chun, Chairman of Zhongguancun Fintech Industry Development Alliance and President of Sinosoft Company. Mr. Wang Hao, Vice President of Bank of Communications Financial Technology, Mr Gong Weihua, Chief Information Officer of Bank of Beijing, Mr. Jiang Hao, Vice President of Netbank, Mr. Zheng Yongqiang, Deputy General Manager of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (China), Mr. Hu Shiwei, Co-founder and CEO of Fourth Paradigm, Mr. Huang Yi, Executive Head of Service Business of Specialized and Specialized New Enterprises of CICC, discussed in-depth on the topics of how financial institutions can make use of the data to improve the quality and efficiency of their services, the key role of AI in upgrading financial services, and how to strike a balance of data security and privacy protection in financial services. 

The forum also held the Launching Ceremony of the 2024 Zhongguancun “FanTaiKe” Fintech International Innovation Competition and the signing ceremony of Fintech project cooperation.

The Forum was guided by Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, Administrative Commission of Zhongguancun Science Park and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Local Finance Regulation and Supervision, and organized by Fiancial Service Office of Haidian District, Beijing Municipality, Zhongguancun Fintech Industry Development Alliance and Zhongguancun Internet Finance Institute. About 300 representatives from banks, securities firms, fund managers, insurance companies, and technology enterprises attended the Forum in person, with thousands participating online.
